The Keys to Longevity to Apply to Your Life and Work, the last 14:
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more." Written by Regina Bell, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio.
Here are the last 14:
- Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
- Believe in miracles.
- God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
- Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
- Growing old beats the alternative - dying young.
- Your children get only one childhood.
- All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
- Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
- If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
- Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- The best is yet to come.
- No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
- Yield.
- Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
I don't know about you, but I celebrate all 44 of these wonderful keys to life. Since she mention 45, I wonder what the last one is? Maybe when she becomes 91 in August, she'll add one more. Thank you Carlton and Brenda for sharing these.
Mastering the RFP Process ~ Part 4
None of us are experts at the Request For Proposal game, but along the way many of us have learned a thing or two. In Part 1, we focused on understanding how you can be selective and how the details can guide you. In Part 2, we learned how it is first important to learn where the organization issuing the RFP is coming from, and whether it is worth while for you to respond.
In Part 3, we shared tips about preparation in thought and the process for your RFP.
In this issue, we bring you Part 4 of this series with Turn your RFP Strategy into a Sales Booster. This is the last part in this series. But, I'm sure there is more 'out there'. If you have RFP experiences or thoughts you would like to share, send them to me (mdayton@eotomarketingsolutions.com), and I'll showcase them in our newsletter.

Awards Gala Weekend (April 23-24, 2010)
The Awards Gala weekend is the biggest Awards program the Council has ever had in several respects. First, the event is a two-day event. Second, the event is over a weekend. Thirdly, the event is the first Awards Banquet in Boston of the recently merged Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council. And last but not least, we are pleased that Earvin "Magic" Johnson will be the keynote speaker on Saturday at the Gala. For more information on the event, click here.
Be sure to contact the GNEMSDC and get in your reservations.

We Need You!
The purpose and mission of the MBEIC is to provide advice and guidance to the programs operating under the auspices of the GNEMSDC and to conduct such other activities that the Committee adopts in the furtherance of its goals to enhance minority economic development, provided such actions do not impair the 501c (3) tax-exempt status of the GNEMSDC.
We are looking for people like you, fellow MBEs, who would like to commit to helping one another and by volunteering to be a part of this wonderful group. The only requirement is that you join one of our sub-committees.

Message from Carlton
Greetings all,
Based upon discussions with many MBEs in January and February, this year is off to a fast start. To keep pace with the needs of the corporate members of the Council, it is up to us to make sure we are well positioned and prepared to step up to the challenges and opportunities as they present themselves.
To assist you with your preparedness, the MBEIC Education sub-committee is working diligently with the Council to ensure a full slate of educational programming designed to meet your needs. The committee is also connecting with many corporate contacts to develop a series of "How to do business with........." seminars to provide specific information on how to access a particular corporation and what you need to know in order to do business with them.
As stated in our previous eNewsletter, I believe the future for our MBEs and the MBEIC lies in our ability to position our MBEs for growth through education and constant communication. Stay tuned for additional information and updates on educational programs, meetings and events.
Most importantly, stay connected and involved. This year truly can be tremendous for us all; let's make things happen and I wish you all continued success.
Best regards,
Carlton L. Oneal
Chairperson, MBE Input Committee
